Sydneysiders and Brisbanites have made the most of the warm temperatures on the final day of the long weekend, before a cold change is expected to sweep through.

Sydney siders and Queensland ers have enjoyed the warm weather on the final day of the long weekend , however, a cold change is coming in less than 24 hours that could bring damaging thunderstorms, wind, large hail and the risk of flash-flooding in two days' time.

Parts of south-east Queensland north of Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast have been warned about a chance of thunderstorms on Monday afternoon and night. "We had a stormy change on Friday, the two showery changes on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, and the final one of those comes through today," he said.

Mr Sharpe said there is about a 60 per cent chance of a shower in the Queensland capital and neighbouring Gold Coast, but Wednesday was the main day of concern.Damaging winds, thunderstorms and hail could hit Queensland's south-east on Wednesday.
