NSW has reported 18 deaths in the state’s deadliest day since the COVID-19 pandemic began. There are 20,293 new cases and 2030 people in hospital

NSW has recorded its deadliest day of the pandemic with 18 deaths and 20,293 new COVID-19 cases, as the vaccine rollout for primary school aged children begins.The new infections were reported from 84,333 tests, resulting in a positive rate of 24 per cent.

The daily case numbers come as COVID-19 vaccines become available to children aged five to 11 on Monday. “I just encourage people to [have] a little bit of patience, a little bit of persistence and no doubt they’ll be able to get access to vaccines in the weeks ahead.”The Nationals MP says he has experienced only mild symptoms and has already been in isolation for a week after earlier being identified as a household contact.
