Almost 28 per cent of people aged 18 and older have received a booster shot, while 16.4 per cent of children aged five to 11 have had one jab.
NSW Australian Medical Association president Danielle McMullen welcomed the federal government’s move to deploy 100,000 private health staff to public hospitals and vaccine clinics across the country.She said authorities should not rule out deploying the defence force to bolster healthcare staffing levels as hospitals come under increased strain.
Meanwhile, NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell said the state government was doing “everything it could” to ensure schools were open when term 1 begins.
