NSW has reported 344 new local coronavirus cases on Wednesday, as Premier Gladys Berejiklian says the surge in case numbers is “expected to continue”.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Health Minister Brad Hazzard, Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant and Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys at Wednesday’s COVID-19 briefing.Ms Berejiklian said the state “came out in force” for testing during the reporting period, with 119,000 swabs processed. There were 356 new local cases reported on Tuesday.
After 14 new cases were recorded in the Hunter region today, the Premier said the area “doesn’t look like it will come out of lockdown later this week”. Five of the patients have received one dose of vaccine. Twenty-nine of the ICU patients require ventilation.
