NSW has 388 patients in hospital with COVID-19 and 52 in intensive care as the state recorded 6288 new cases.
There were no deaths recorded. Meanwhile, Victoria recorded 2108 new cases and six deaths on Christmas Day. It comes after Premier Dominic Perrottet re-introduced several public health measures he had previously ruled out, including a mandate on masks indoors until late January. QR codes are also back for retail and hospitality after Boxing Day, despite NSW Health focusing contact tracing efforts on household contacts of confirmed cases. Anyone who can work from home is encouraged to do so.Hospitality venues including pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes must again adhere to the one person per two square metre rule indoors from December 27 until January 27. There are no density limits outdoors.
