More than 17,000 runners were undeterred by a grey sky and soggy conditions in Sydney today as wet weather continued to hit the New South Wales coastline.
Participants in the Runaway Sydney Half Marathon crossed the finish line after a 10-kilometre run across the city as part of the annual event.
The NSW State Emergency Service carried out a flood rescue demonstration at Manly Dam today, with crews on standby for more rain to sweep into the the state. The Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Edward Medlock said showers were expected to continue over the next seven days as an easterly flow continued to move onto the coastline from a high pressure system sitting over Tasmania.Point Perpendicular had a new monthly record for rainfall in 24 hours with a total of 143 millimetres.
