NSW residents face border restrictions at popular Jervis Bay beaches | laura_r_chung rabe9

Sydneysiders hoping to enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches in the Jervis Bay Territory are being turned away from the Shoalhaven peninsula under strict Commonwealth coronavirus restrictions.

At the only entry point to Booderee National Park, drivers' details and where they've come from are checked.Credit:The territory is subject to similar public health directions in place in the ACT, with people who have been to ACT-declared hotspots, including greater Sydney, Central Coast and Wollongong regions, not permitted to enter without a valid exemption.Meanwhile, any Jervis Bay Territory resident who has visited a hotspot must self-isolate upon return.

"To protect the community through the COVID-19 pandemic, Public Health Emergency Directions are made regularly to protect residents and minimise risks to visitors." "They are regularly reviewed and updated based on national protocols and health advice – and the community is kept informed of any updates."Since the Jervis Bay Territory was surrendered to the Commonwealth in 1915, services have been administered by the ACT.
