New South Wales is set to get 1,850 extra paramedics and dozens more ambulance stations to help cope with increasing demand.The 1,850 jobs will increase the state's paramedic workforce by 40 per centNSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, Treasurer Matt Kean and Health Minister Brad Hazzard will make the formal announcement today, with the funding — estimated at close to $2 billion over the next four years — to be outlined in this month's state budget.

"It is just an amazing situation, quite unprecedented, after pushing for years and industrial action by paramedics," he said. The funding in this month's state budget is also expected to increase ambulance support staff, nurses and doctors.There have been lengthy ambulance delays across the state including regional cities and the Central Coast.NSW opposition health spokesman Ryan Park said while the extra paramedics were welcome, the number of beds in hospitals needed to increase to help cope with the extra demand for emergency medicine.
