NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey has put forward a plan to overhaul the allocation of GST , which he claimed had the backing of Queensland and even Western Australia, as he again hit out at the current system for producing 'unintelligible' decisions. Mr Mookhey and Premier Chris Minns have come out swinging over the past week after it was revealed NSW was set to miss out on $188 million in revenue from the tax while Victoria was due to receive a massive $3.8 billion boost. Both men have demanded reforms to address how the independent Commonwealth Grants Commission determines what each state receives from the carve-up, with Mr Minns insisting NSW could not continue to 'eat last every single time the states get around the table.' At a press conference on Tuesday, Mr Mookhey continued to press for changes, revealing he had taken a number of proposals to a meeting with other state Treasurers that he claimed would see the GST allocated more fairly in future. 'Ultimately the system in general needs to be scraped and replaced with a per capita distribution, that would see NSW gain billions,' he argued
