New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns were put to the test on Saturday as thousands of residents hit the polls for four by-elections.

The polls - which are being held in the state seats of Bega, Monaro, Willoughby and Strathfield on Saturday - mark the first electoral tests for both Premier Dominic Perrottet and Opposition Leader Chris Minns.

The regional seat of Monaro is also up for grabs after former deputy premier of NSW John Barilaro resigned just days after Ms Berejiklian revealed she would step down from the state’s top job.The Nationals are expected to hold the electorate with candidate Nichole Overall. Jason Yat-Sen Li will go head-to-head with Liberal’s Bridget Sakr, who lost her daughter Veronique in the Oatlands tragedy, to see if he can hold onto ex-Labor leader Jodi McKay’s Strathfield seat.
