The NT's Independent Commissioner Against Corruption flags his office may soon release a significant report that could 'fill all of your expectations and longings'. Commissioner Ken Fleming also reveals his concerns about the NT's postal vote system.
The Northern Territory's anti-corruption commissioner has foreshadowed the release of a "major report" within the next two months as his office continues to investigate more than 50 allegations of improper conduct.
Asked on ABC Darwin why his office had not focused more attention on ministers and public servants, ICAC boss Ken Fleming QC responded: "Do you think we're not doing that?" In addition to the 50 cases being examined by his office, Mr Fleming said he had also referred another 50 matters to various government departments — the details of which he said would not be publicly disclosed.Mr Fleming was also asked to explain why he was yet to brief the Director of Public Prosecutions about his investigation into Ms Purick.
"It's evidence that will have to be proven beyond reasonable doubt as distinct from on the balance of probabilities for my report," Mr Fleming explained. He said this had been rectified during a recount and had not affected the outcome, which saw independent candidate Yingiya Guyula defeat Labor's Lynne Walker.
