A 32-year-old man who allegedly stole a car from a Darwin smash repairs shop at knifepoint has been arrested by Northern Territory police.
A man allegedly threatened people with a knife at two businesses in inner-city Darwin before stealing a car from a repairs shop.
In a statement, NT Police said officers received reports a man had threatened multiple people with a knife at two businesses in the inner-city suburb of Stuart Park, around midday on Saturday.Police allege the man stole one of the cars awaiting smash repairs at the business and used it to flee the scene.
NT Police's Territory Response Group set up a roadblock along Gunn Point Road, where they ambushed the alleged offender about 2pm.The Northern Watch Commander on duty on Sunday morning alleged the offender responded to the roadblock by driving by officers at speed.
