Charlotte Wilmot, 48, denies encouraging her colleague, nurse Catherine Hudson, to drug patients on the ward for 'an easy life'

An assistant practitioner on the Stroke Unit at Blackpool Victoria Hospital said text messages about sedating patients "sounded awful" but insisted they were just "dark humour", a court heard.

In a WhatsApp exchange between the pair on February 3, 2017, Hudson said she was 'going to kill bed 5'. Wilmot replied: ‘Pmsl well tonight sedate him to high heaven lol xxx.’ In another exchange, referring to a different patient, Hudson wrote: "She's out like a light now", to which Wilmot replied: "Praise the Lord!" She told officers: "I do think they sound awful but I never think she would take them literally, never thought she'd give anything that wasn't prescribed."
