NSW Health will begin paying an interim 3 per cent wage increase to nurses and midwives, with the union accepting a recommendation from the Industrial Relations Commission to enter into four weeks of negotiation.

The Nurses and Midwives' Association has accepted a 3 per cent pay rise in NSW , weeks after it said the figure was too low.The Nurses and Midwives' Association has accepted recommendations to enter four week negotiations with NSW Health, with an interim pay increase.

The decision comes after public sector members of the NSW union branch voted to accept the IRC's recommendation to enter a four-week period of continued negotiations with the state government. Following the union accepting the recommendation, nurses and midwives in NSW will receive an interim wage increase of 3 per cent."As a show of our good faith from the government, public sector nurses and midwives will receive an interim 3 per cent wage increase, backdated to 1 July 2024."

"We look forward to robust and productive discussions taking place with the state government over the coming weeks," Mr Waites said.
