New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister admits he would not be opposed to tourists being allowed to return to Whakaari / White Island. Winston Peters told Sky News "adventure tourism has a danger factor to it" and visitors must be made aware of the risks involved.

Two investigations are currently underway, one by WorkSafe which could take up to a year, and the other by police on behalf of the coroner. A third inquiry is also possible if there are gaps the existing investigations do not address. Image: News Corp Australia
