New Zealand Opposition Leader Todd Muller will step down immediately from his role following a shock resignation announcement 10 weeks out from the federal election.
Mr Muller said the position as the National Party leader took a toll on himself and his family and was untenable health-wise in the long term. He took over the role as party leader in late May after successfully challenging former leader Simon Bridges. NZ Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern passed on her best wishes to Mr Muller and his family in response to the announcement. Image: AP
