New Zealand Police have indefinitely suspended the search for the two remaining victims of the White Island volcano eruption.
It comes more than two weeks after the volcano erupted, officially killing 17 people and leaving Sydney teenager Winona Langford, 17, and New Zealand tour guide Hayden Marshall-Inman, 40, missing, presumed dead.The local police district commander leading the search, Superintendent Andy McGregor, said it had been suspended following "extensive shoreline and substantial aerial searches" in the region surrounding White Island.
Ms Langford and Mr Marshall-Inman's bodies are presumed to have been washed into the water surrounding the island. Police divers have searched the area several times. "At this distressing time, the school community’s thoughts and heartfelt sympathy are with her family and friends," Ms Diprose said. Ms Langford's parents Kristine and Anthony were killed by the eruption. Her brother Jesse, 19 and studying at the University of Technology Sydney,with severe burns and was among nine Australians flown to hospitals in Sydney.
