CHICO — Police arrested a man they suspect of firing a gun and driving under the influence Sunday.
The Chico Police Department received 9-1-1 calls about a shooting around 9:16 p.m. on the 500 block of East Avenue in Chico, according to a press release from the Chico Police Department.Officers arrived quickly and found a car matching the descriptions given in the 9-1-1 calls. After what police called a “high-risk enforcement stop” they detained the driver.
Francisco Martinez, 48, of Oakland was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while with a firearm and being an addict in possession of a firearm, according to the release.Multiple expended cartridge casings were located in the street and in Martinez’s car, police said.
Police say a gun was also found in the car and the investigation found that the gun was reported stolen out of San Francisco.
