Tarique Myvett, 26, pistol-whipped one suspected car burglar, then fatally shot 17-year-old Antonio Noriega during the April 2021 incident.
OAKLAND — An Oakland man who allegedly pistol-whipped one person and then killed a 17-year-old boy after catching the two victims in the act of breaking into a van has been sentenced to 11 years in state prison, records show.
Police say that on the afternoon of April 6, 2021, Noriega and two others drove up next to a plumbing van that was parked on the 2400 block of East 24th Street and broke into it. Myvett, who lived on the same block, allegedly came outside armed with a pistol and confronted the trio, striking one burglar with the butt of his gun.
