A man was injured after a shooting erupted outside his vehicle early Tuesday in a West Oakland neighborhood, authorities said.
Shortly before 1:15 a.m., a 29-year-old Richmond man was inside his vehicle while delivering food to an address in the 1500 block of Myrtle Street in the city’s Oak Center neighborhood when he heard gunshots outside.
After realizing he had been wounded in an arm, he managed to drive to a location in Jack London Square, where police were summoned. Officers provided care until paramedics and Oakland Fire Department firefighters were able to take him to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Investigators who examined the Myrtle Street scene found vehicles and at least one building that had been struck by gunfire.
For information leading to the arrest of a suspect, police are offering up to $5,000 in the shooting. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3426 or Crime Stoppers of Oakland at 510-777-8572.
