Daleshia Byrd, 25, was sleeping in her East Oakland home when someone fired more than a dozen shots into the apartment.
OAKLAND — Police have identified the 25-year-old mother of four who died four days after being shot in her sleep from outside her apartment.
Police say the shots came from outside the apartment and that more than a dozen rounds were fired in what appeared to be a targeted shooting. Several children and at least one other adult were also inside the home. Authorities said the shooting is not connected to a fatal shooting days earlier in the Laurel district where a 42-year-old mother of two died after she was hit by a stray bullet fired from a block away, as she lay on a couch inside her home.
