The shootings near the coliseum and in the Fruitvale district don’t appear to be related.
OAKLAND — Police are investigating two shootings mid-day Saturday that left two men injured.
The shootings are not related, police said. In the first, the man was the victim of a drive-by shooting that was reported at 11:02 a.m. in the area of Eades Avenue and Hegenberger Road, near Interstate 880. Police say the man was walking in the 8400 block of Eades Avenue, when someone in a car opened fire, hitting him multiple times. The car fled the scene, while the man was taken to a hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition.
A little over an hour later, a man was wounded in a shooting in the 1600 block of 35th Avenue in the Fruitvale District. Little is known about the shooting, other than that the man was taken to the hospital.
