81-year-old Ronn Middleton, a full-time carer to his wife, had booked the cruise thinking it would give him a well-earned rest
A Lancashire pensioner's dream cruise turned into a "holiday from hell" after a vomiting bug broke out on the ship.
Ronn, a former computer programmer, was struck down with intense cramps, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Describing the situation, he told the ECHO: "It was horrendous. I was literally on the floor in pain. And there were lots of people like it. At least 100 of us." Describing the trip as the "holiday from hell", Ronn continued: "I had to wait a day to see the ship's doctor. At meal times, they'd knock on the door and leave water and dry toast outside my cabin. When I asked for a bit of butter they said I couldn't have any. And there wasn't even any milk for tea or coffee in the room."
