When Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace revealed Qui Gon Jinn as Obi-Wan’s Jedi Master, it made audiences feel similarly to the first mention of “the Clone Wars” in A New Hope. Their partnership made fans wonder what Obi-Wan’s training had been like alongside Qui Gon, before the master’s demise at the double-bladed lightsaber of Darth Maul.
