The backlash to Star Wars' Grand Inquisitor's design in Obi-Wan Kenobi may be bad for Grand Admiral Thrawn's live- action reception in Ahsoka.
One element of Obi-Wan Kenobi that garnered a lot of criticism before the show was even released was the character design for the Grand Inquisitor, backlash that does not bode well for another Star Wars villain. Given his appearances in Star Wars Rebels and of the Pau'an species in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, most expected a smooth transition to live-action for the Inquisitor. This proved to be untrue.
There is added pressure for the makeup and costume departments that have created icons like Darth Vader over the years to bring their A-game for Thrawn, especially since Chiss have never appeared in live-action. From a narrative perspective, Grand Admiral Thrawn is destined to be as integral a character to the story as he is in Timothy Zahn's numerous Thrawn books and Rebels.
