Two-way star won’t play for the Angels again this year — or perhaps at all as he hits free agency — but there is no word on how he will handle his elbow injury.
. Now the batting portion of his season is over, too. Neither the Angels nor Ohtani’s camp made it immediately clear how going on the injured list will affect the player’s plans to address his elbow injury. But if the soon-to-be free agent needs Tommy John surgery for a second time — or any other procedure to address the UCL injury — it seems he would want to get it done sooner than later to hasten his return.
