Beijing has extraordinarily condemned the United States for shooting down a Chinese intelligence balloon which sensationally hovered over American airspace for multiple days.
The balloon then fell approximately 18-20 kilometres to the water below when officials began retrieving any sensitive information gathered."I can't go into more detail, but we were able to study and scrutinize the balloon and its equipment, which has been valuable,” the anonymous official said in a statement.
Shortly after the operation, the President thanked the air force personnel involved in the operation. The FAA closed two airports – Charleston and Myrtle Beach – in South Carolina and one – Wilmington – in North Carolina as the balloon moved towards the Atlantic ocean.
