OC moms volunteer to help Ukrainian refugees arriving at US-Mexico border
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- A group of Orange County moms headed to the U.S.-Mexico border this week to help give humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees waiting to enter the United States.
David Miramontes with House of Ukraine said many refugees have followed information on social media leading them to San Ysidro. As word spreads, the generosity here grows from Americans and Mexicans-non governmental organizations, churches, nonprofits and individuals. Volunteers estimated the refugee total by Friday afternoon here to be at about 1,000-each with a story to tell.One of her photos was of a young girl holding a Ukrainian flag in one hand and American flag in the other.
