A Jacksonville police officer became the third Sheriff's Office employee arrested in 2023. He is accused of DUI in St. Johns County.
He has been"administratively reassigned while the criminal case is pending," according to the Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office said Lamont was arrested following a roadside sobriety test administered by St. Johns County sheriff's deputies during a traffic stop by St. Augustine police investigating a report of speeding. St. Augustine police"had reason to believe that he was driving under the influence" after contacting him during the traffic stop. Those officers then asked the DUI unit of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office to respond and conduct the roadside field sobriety exercises.
Lamont subsequently was arrested on a charge of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and taken to the St. Johns County Detention Center, according to the news release.
