UPDATE: Officials say the source of the foul smell reported across South Jersey contained

Officials say a tanker truck at a truck stop is releasing a chemical that's causing the stench around Paulsboro, Gloucester County.Officials in New Jersey say the source of a foul smell that was reported across several counties has been contained.

A shelter-in-place was issued by Gloucester County Emergency Management around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday for East Greenwich, Paulsboro, Gibbstown and areas across the Delaware River after yet another burst of fumes.After receiving numerous 911 calls of an odor around 3 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews discovered a truck at the TA Truck Service Area on the 100 block of Berkley Road in Paulsboro off I-295 expelling fumes from its rear tanker.

Hazmat crews monitored and tested the air quality around the scene and officials confirmed there is no risk to the public - just a strong smell. & tested the air quality of the immediate incident scene and as well as all surrounding areas that have experienced the odor. The results of the testing have confirmed that there is no risk to the public. Air monitoring will continue throughout the duration of the event.""I'm going 'no wonder no one wanted to park here,' something's reeking like natural gas," O'Dell said.
