A well-known chunk of Ohio City will change its style next month when Bright Side and Bird of Paradise open in what was formerly three unique concepts: Bier Markt, Bar Cento and Speakeasy.

Mark Priemer, Sam McNulty and McNulty's dog BoBo pose in front of Bright Side, McNulty and Priemer's new concept in Ohio City. CLEVELAND, Ohio – The ownership remains the same, with business partners Sam McNulty and Mark Priemer running the two spaces. But the two restaurateurs wanted to mix things up in the space at 1947 W. 25th St. The building helped kickstart the two business owners’ eventual spread down W.

When it came to the design of Bright Side and Bird of Paradise, McNulty said he turned to his “better half,” Ciara Ahern. Ahern founded Sixth Element, a strategic branding and creative agency in Cleveland in 2020. The concept is more bar-forward than its predecessors, McNulty said. Its wine list was curated by Ahern and Steve Schimoler, with a variety of local options available and an eclectic selection of wines from places like Macedonia, Ukraine, Lebanon, Hungary, Spain and Portugal. Ahern is also designing the cocktail program.
