Ohio man accused of raping young children; authorities believe there are more victims

Michael Ray Stith, 49, of Prospect, Ohio, is charged with seven counts of rape, all involving victims younger than 13 years old.

MARION, Ohio — A Marion County man has been charged with multiple counts of rape involving children younger than 13 years old, and authorities believe there might be more victims.

Michael Ray Stith, 49, of Prospect, is charged in Marion County Common Pleas Court with seven counts of rape, each a first-degree felony, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Stith was taken into custody last week and is being held on a $500,000 bond,The state Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate Stith. Authorities say Stith has connections to Marion and Crawford counties.

“We believe there may be other children, other little boys that may have been victimized by this defendant, perhaps years ago,” Attorney General Dave Yost said in a video statement. “We’re asking that anyone that has knowledge to please come forward. ... “Please, come forward, let us know what you know. ... We want justice we want full justice. We want justice for your kids, too,” Yost said.
