Ohio State’s Academic Progress Rate of 993 for both its athletic department and its football team is the best in school history.

Ohio State’s athletic department has never had a better Academic Progress Rate than it does right now.on Tuesday and averages APR scores from the 2018-19 academic year through the 2021-22 academic year, is 993 for both the athletic department as a whole and for the football team, the best marks Ohio State athletics and Ohio State football have ever achieved since APR started in the 2004-05 academic year.

Among Ohio State’s 31 NCAA sports programs, 26 of them currently have a multi-year APR of 990 or higher. Seven Ohio State programs have perfect scores of 1000, which means all of their athletes have made steady progress toward graduation from the university: men’s cross country, men’s golf, men’s soccer, rifle, women’s cross country, women’s golf and women’s volleyball. Men’s basketball and men’s tennis have the lowest multi-year APRs at 979.

“The APR is designed to measure whether student-athletes are maintaining eligibility and are being retained by the institution,” Ohio State faculty athletics representative John Davidson. “This year’s APR release shows that Ohio State continues to perform very well and, in fact, keeps getting better. Achieving a multi-year score of 993 –the highest in our institution’s history – reflects a culture consistently aiming to improve all aspects of the student-athlete experience.

Seventeen Ohio State programs posted perfect single-year APR scores for the 2021-22 academic year: men’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, football, men’s and women’s fencing, field hockey, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s hockey, women’s rowing, women’s soccer, softball, women’s tennis and men’s and women’s volleyball.
