Cornerback Lejond Cavazos is entering the NCAA transfer portal after two seasons at Ohio State.
A school spokesman confirmed on Monday that Cavazos submitted his notification to transfer, leaving the Buckeyes after two seasons.
The news came two days after Cavazos, a former composite four-star recruit in the 2020 class, was not seen by reporters during Ohio State'sIt appeared as if Cavazos faced an uphill climb to seiz a prominent role with the Buckeyes next season. Cameron Brown and Denzel Burke returned as starters, while Jordan Hancock and Jakailin Johnson have also made strides in the early weeks of spring practice. During his latest news conference, coach Ryan Daysix remaining cornerbacks on scholarshipSeven cornerbacks on the roster saw more playing time last fall than Cavazos, who logged 112 snaps on defense, according to Pro Football Focus. Over nine games, Cavazos finished with nine tackles and broke up a pair of passes.
