It's Ohio State vs. the wind and it did not go well for the Buckeyes in the first half.
First-half thoughts as Ohio State, stunningly, is tied with Northwestern 7-7 at halftime:
* In what was maybe the worst half of football of the Ryan Day era, Ohio State managed 118 yards on 32 plays, an average of just 3.7 yards per play. Northwestern averaged 3.9 yards on 37 plays. * Running back TreVeyon Henderson didn’t make the trip and that left the rushing load to Miyan Williams. The run game has looked better at times with Williams this season, but that wasn’t the case Saturday as Ohio State was stuffed multiple times on short yardage. Williams carried 11 times for 22 yards and didn’t have a rush longer than 5 yards.
That was three Williams runs; a Stroud keeper that popped outside for 16 yards on fourth-and-1; a Stroud scramble; and a jet sweep by receiver Emeka Egbuka for a 15-yard touchdown.
