Tommy Eichenberg, Cade Stover and Xavier Johnson are Ohio State’s team captains for the 2023 season, the first time in 14 years that Ohio State will have only three captains.
It marks the first time since 2009 that Ohio State will have only three team captains.
“He's such a good leader,” fellow linebacker Cody Simon said of Eichenberg earlier this month. “I don't think anyone on the defense wouldn't go into battle with him. He's the ultimate competitor.” “There’s not a better guy than Cade,” fellow tight end Joe Royer said of Stover earlier this week. “Not a better role model for the younger guys and still me, I look up to him in many ways. Hardest worker on the team, does everything right. If you want to have a chance of playing football and being successful, just look at what he does and try to mimic it.”
