Ohio State women’s basketball improves to 16-0, setting a new record for the best start in program history, with an 83-71 win over Minnesota on Thursday.

Previously, the Buckeyes’ best start to a season came when they won their first 15 games of the year in 2011-12 before dropping their 16th game of the year against Michigan.

Ohio State came back from a halftime deficit to earn their historic 16th straight win on Thursday night. The Buckeyes trailed Minnesota 43-39 at halftime but outscored the Gophers 44-28 in the second half to finish with a 12-point advantage. Taylor Mikesell , Rikki Harris , Rebeka Mikulasikova and Cotie McMahon all scored in double figures for the Buckeyes, who kept their winning streak going despite being without star guard Jacy Sheldon for the 11th time in 16 games.

Ohio State, which is ranked third in the AP Top 25, is one of just three remaining unbeaten teams in women’s college basketball this season along with South Carolina and Utah. The Buckeyes, who are now 5-0 in Big Ten play, will look to keep their winning streak going when they host Illinois at the Schottenstein Center at 1 p.m. Sunday. That game will be available to watch on BTN+.
