With the storm expected to produce winds up to 60 mph, empty commercial trailers, livestock trailers and other vehicles will not be allowed on the Ohio Turnpike beginning at 6 a.m. Friday.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Ohio Turnpike is prohibiting high-profile vehicles from using the roadway beginning Friday morning as a winter storm is expected to produce winds up to 60 mph.

The travel ban for vehicles such as empty commercial trailers, tow-behind trailers, campers and boats will take effect at 6 a.m. Friday and is expected to remain in place until 8 a.m. Sunday. Other prohibited vehicles include office trailers, livestock trailers, all mobile homes, double-trailer combinations exceeding 90 feet, and all triple-trailer combinations.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Northeast Ohio beginning at 1 a.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday. The storm is expected to bring very cold temperatures, winds up to 60 mph and 3 to 5 inches of snow. Wind chills could reach 25 degrees below zero.
