Following several failed rescue efforts, the ship's crew were safely evacuated and the vessel anchored, but it remains ablaze and salvage efforts have been repeatedly thwarted by Houthi attacks. "Sounion now sits immobilised in the Red Sea, where it is on fire and appears to be leaking oil, presenting both a navigational hazard and a potential environmental catastrophe," he said.
