Environmental, social and governance investment standards created by Wall Street firms are hurting American energy companies, Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt says.

In May, Stitt signed the Energy Discrimination Elimination Act, a measure that would require the state to divest from any financial company that boycotts the energy industry.

The Keystone XL pipeline, canceled by Biden on his first day in office, would have brought oil from Oklahoma to Texas. Stitt also said firms that embrace ESG are"not having an honest conversation about the needs of Americans."
