Oklahoma State improved to 4-1 this season against the Longhorns.
Oklahoma State has been a thorn in Texas’ side all season long, and Saturday was no different.
Texas starter Zane Morehouse couldn’t make it beyond the second inning, forcing Pierce to expend three more relievers to get through the game. OSU starter Ryan Bogusz lasted eight innings, allowing one run and five hits with five strikeouts. The loss also left Pierce scrambling to find a feasible pitching solution for the decisive game, slated to start at 4 p.m Saturday.
The outcome of Texas’ tournament trilogy with Oklahoma State, which began with UT’s 4-0 win Wednesday, might be the deciding factor when the NCAA tournament selection committee decides which sixteen teams should host a regional.
