Today’s teens know they are missing out on some of the fun, but are baffled previous generations did so many adult things so young says psychologist Jean Twenge.

What’s wrong with the kids of today: they don’t drink, do drugs or have sex like they used to. Is that even a problem?

“But now what differentiates generations is changes in technology: smartphones and social media; faster transportation; labour-saving devices and better medical care. As one early teen said when told that in the 1990s, kids in Year 8 sometimes drank alcohol: “Old people sometimes scare me.”But Gen Zs also scare older people, with their proclivity for depression, sadness, loneliness and self-harm and suicide.
