ThisWeek previews the boys soccer Central District tournament.

The postseason kicks off for boys soccer with the Division II district tournament Oct. 17, followed by Division I on Oct. 18 and Division III on Oct. 19. The district finals will be played Oct. 29. The regional tournament begins Nov. 2, state semifinals will be played Nov. 9 and state finals will take place Nov. 12 at Lower.com Field. One of the four Division I brackets features Berlin, Liberty, Olentangy and Orange, so both semifinals and the final could feature a school-district rivalry.

“I love it,” said Olentangy coach Kyle Hamrick, whose team is 12-1-3. “I think there’s some opportunities for some exciting games there. There isn’t a single team in this tournament that we really fear. In fact, we’re excited about the potential that we have the possibility to play . We’ve already beaten them once this year and we know we can do it again.”

Fifth-seeded Upper Arlington is the top seed in its bracket. Ninth-seeded Westerville Central , which won its second district title in three years last season, and 10-seeded Hilliard Davidson are potential district final matchups for the Golden Bears, who are ranked fifth in the district. UA defeated the Warhawks 3-1 on Aug. 30 and the Wildcats beat the Bears 1-0 on Oct. 11.

Sleepers: Pickerington Central , Worthington Kilbourne , Marysville , Westerville North , Chillicothe Bexley coach Jason Goggins said his team gained confidence in a 1-0 loss to Richfield Revere on Oct. 8. The Minutemen are ranked No. 1 in the state and the Lions are tied for third. There should be some drama in the other bracket with third-seeded Bloom-Carroll and fourth-seeded Columbus Academy as well as defending district champions in fifth-seeded Hartley and seventh-seeded Watterson .

“We have two district brackets with Granville and us in one and the other seeded teams went into the other bracket, which goes to the Southwest,” Goggins said. “That bracket looks to be wide open with Bloom-Carroll, Academy, Hartley or Watterson. I have no clue who would come out of the side.
