The theme of this year's Met Gala and Costume Institute exhibition is Costume Art, while the dress code is Fashion Is Art – so we're likely to see lots of bold colours and eye-catching designs as stars hit the red carpet. We'll be bringing you all the Met Gala highlights as they happen.

This year we're noticing a lot more assistance on the Met carpet, and this is to be expected as many of these looks are notoriously difficult to walk in. Getting up those famous Met steps has become a challenge in itself. So much complex contouring and maths would have been included within the construction of this year's garments, including so many undergarments, hidden structures, and carefully placed support to create these dramatic looks.
Actor and singer Luke Evans is wearing an all-brown leather outfit. Katy Perry has gone full futuristic tonight, embracing an out-of-space aesthetic that feels otherworldly. Many might think this is from her recent trip to space, but this look fits perfectly within the abstract storytelling we're seeing throughout this year's Met Gala. The 2026 theme is all about transformation and Katy's look does exactly that, morphing the body into something entirely new.
