Newton-John was the youngest of three children. Her brother Hugh, born in 1939, was a doctor. He died in 2019. Her actress sister Rona, born in 1941, passed away in 2013.

She ultimately had 10 No.1 singles - including a record seven at the same time - and in 1977, her Olivia Newton-John’s Greatest Hits became her first platinum album.Newton-John met Allan Carr at a party at the home of fellow Aussie songstress Helen Reddy - and the film producer offered her the movie role that would make her a global sensation.

In 1984, she married Matt Lattanzi, a dancer she met on the set of Xanadu, and the couple welcomed a daughter, Chloe Rose, in January 1986. In June 2008, the then-59-year-old singer married John Easterling, whom she referred to as the love of her life. She recovered from the disease, undergoing a partial mastectomy and chemotherapy before having breast reconstruction.
In early January 2019 - following speculation she was close to death - Newton-John tweeted a short video clip. As a result of her illnesses, Newton-John had dreamed of establishing a one-stop centre where cancer patients could receive support and treatment, including “evidence-based wellness therapies”.
