Olivia Newton-John has been described as a “light at the end of the tunnel” for many Australians fighting cancer as her legacy lives on in Victoria, with politicians also paying tribute to the icon.
The Australian actress and singer died peacefully at her ranch in California on Monday morning local time at the age of 73 after a long battle with several bouts of cancer over the course of her life.In 2017 the cancer came back more lethal and a tumour at the base of her spine progressed to stage four.
However, the Australian-raised singer used her 30-year battle as inspiration to advocate for other cancer patients and established the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in 2012 at Austin Hospital in Victoria.
