More than 1,000 people were honoured in this year's New Year honours list. Here are some of the famous names to have made the list.
Speaking to Press Association about the honour, Newton-John said:"I am extremely excited, honoured and grateful beyond words to be included with such an esteemed group of women who have received this distinguished award before me.
Knighthoods were also announced for film directors Sam Mendes and Steve McQueen and cricketer Clive Lloyd. He becomes a Knight Bachelor, awarded by the Foreign Office in recognition of outstanding service to the UK nationally and overseas.
