Earlier this year, three-time Olympic medallist Shane Rose was bedridden for four weeks after a serious horseriding accident. Now, he's back on his horse with his eyes set on the Paris Olympics.
About two months ago Olympic equestrian Shane Rose was thrown from his horse in an accident that resulted in 18 bone breaks.
"A lot of things have had to have gone right and, touch wood, so far they've been going really well."Rose recently returned to his Werombi home, south-west of Sydney, and rode a horse for the first time since his accident. While the national institution was a far cry from his horse-filled paddocks of home, the staff tried to make his conditioning on a stationary bike slightly more bearable.
Fortunately, Rose had confirmed his qualifications for the Olympics as part of the Australian eventing squad before his accident."For him, riding at the Olympic games isn't good enough," Smith said.
