There are concerns Omicron could have spread to a number of guests at a boat party in Sydney after five coronavirus cases were detected, two of those 'likely' to be the new variant of concern.

There are fears dozens of people could have contracted the Omicron variant of coronavirus on a boat party after five people tested positive to COVID-19, with two of those"likely to have" the new variant.

NSW Health are urgently contacting the attendees who signed in with a QR code before boarding the boat. Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said the southwest Sydney man had spent several months overseas and lived Nigeria before returning to Sydney from Doha.
