The comments came at Brisbane-based AACo’s annual meeting, which featured slides of steaks and was catered with meat snacks for investors.
Investors at the AGM queried dividends. “We made a profit last financial year. No dividend. So is your policy now to put profits back into the company and no dividends?” shareholder Ken Ryan, 80, asked. “Even though our assets have increased, the debt hasn’t diminished. And we’re likely to see going into a higher interest rate regime than we currently have, the intention is to invest profits back into the business to develop the base of the business.”Investor Richard Hughes returned to the theme asking why director fees were increasing “when shareholders have waited years and years without a dividend”.
